what motivates me
My clients often come to me at a time of considerable emotional - and sometimes financial - upheaval in their lives.
Together, we explore all aspects of their employment history, their likes and dislikes. We distill their skills and expertise and consider where, in an ideal world, their passions and ambitions might take them.
I really enjoy thinking outside the square and presenting opportunities, industries and careers my clients may not have previously considered.
Each client is unique - different experiences, employers, seniority and goals.
But, in each case, I feel I have succeeded in my role when the client emerges with a solid set of tools and skills to confidently explore whatever opportunities come their way.
my background
I started my career as a lawyer at top-tier firms in Australia and the US, including Herbert Smith Freehills and Paul Weiss, before transitioning into legal recruitment with one of Australia's premier specialist firms, Mahlab Recruitment.
An Executive Recruiter for 25 years, I understand the organisational structure, culture and type of employees sought by employers as diverse as law firms, corporations, government departments, statutory authorities and not-for-profits.
More recently, I established and managed the UNSW Law School's Careers Service, the first-of-its-kind for a law school in Australia. In this role, I assisted local and international students and alumni to navigate the legal recruitment market.
I am currently a co-founder and director of a private nursing and home care agency, set up to cater to the growing needs of this demographic in our community.
My skillset focuses on enabling professionals to better understand their career options and then to confidently navigate the jobs market. This includes drawing out relevant skills and expertise, discussing career options and reframing content across cover letters, resumes and online profiles to effectively target and respond to opportunities.
My clients range from those who are looking for career progression and/or a career change, those made redundant or retrenched, to others considering retirement and looking to plan for that next phase.
I am also retained by employers as an integral part of the outplacement process.
